Agency
History
Connecting Point is a 501-(C)3 Toledo-based agency
established in 1974. Our mission isŠconnecting with
children youth and families, empowering them to
meet life¹s challenges, enhancing their potential,
and fostering emotional and physical security. Connecting
Point has been in continuous operation since its
incorporation as a Runaway Shelter and 24-hour Hotline
Service. In the years since its inception, Connecting
Point has become the only organization in Toledo
offering a comprehensive network of services specifically
designed for children and families. We are the connecting
point for services and resources that help children
and their families build successful lives.
In October 1995, Connecting Point merged with OPTIONS/Crittenton.
OPTIONS provided outpatient individual and group
substance abuse treatment to adolescents, and Crittenton
provided services to parenting teens. The Homes
with the Heart fostercare network merged into the
Connecting Point family in the fall of 1999, significantly
expanding the agency¹s out-of-home placement capacity.
In August 2001, Connecting Point assumed management
of the chemical dependency services previously provided
at the St. Anthony Villa. These services include
a full continuum of Substance Abuse Residential
and Day Treatment Programs.
The "new" Connecting Point represents the best talents,
experience, and caring of five outstanding organizations.
These organizations joined forces because of a shared
passion for providing solutions to problems faced
by kids and their families. With a combined total
of over 100 years of service to youth in Lucas,
Wood, and Ottawa counties, the Connecting Point
is a full-service agency providing mental health
and substance abuse services, school-based education
and prevention programs, community outreach services
and residential treatment. |
