TRIUMPH Award 2008 Applications Now Available
This year's TRIUMPH Awards are scheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2008.
Connecting Point's TRIUMPH Awards is the only award Gala in our community that exclusively honors young people. It is quickly becoming THE recognition event for kids across our community.
The TRIUMPH Awards not only honors five extraordinary award recipients, but highlights young, talented musicians, poets, dancers and artists who showcase their talent throughout the evening of the Gala event.
Connecting Point established the TRIUMPH Awards for kids, 14-20 years of age who have overcome serious odds, triumphed over difficult life situations and beaten back defeat to become stable, successful and contributing members of our community.
TRIUMPH Award overview:
- Nominations of 14-20 year olds are received from across the community from clergy, school personnel, parents, community agencies, and any other interested adults
- Five young people are chosen as award recipients by a volunteer Selection Committee of community leaders
- Recipient selections are made by May 5th, 2008
- Notification to youth, sponsors, schools, etc. are the same week and arrangements made for special announcements at commencement, year-end honors programs, etc., as desired by nominators
- More than 500 gala participants will enjoy The Fifth Annual TRIUMPH Awards on Thursday evening, October 23, 2008.
- Ms. Chrys Peterson, News Anchor for WTOL Tv-11 CBS, has been the Mistress of Ceremonies for this event the past three years and has witnessed the impact of these stories. She has recently pledged her commitment to the 2008 TRIUMPH Awards Gala!
TRIUMPH Award Recipients receive:
- A glass statue presented by special guests and Connecting Point leadership
- A 2-minute introduction by a community leader and nominator
- A 5-minute tribute video
- A 2-minute acceptance speech
- A formal outfit for the gala event
- Hair (and nails for young ladies) for the event
- 10 Tickets to the Gala for parents, grandparents and siblings
- Limo ride and red carpet entrance
- A scholarship of $1,000.00 to assist in continuing education.
- An adult mentor relationship for a full year (June 2008 - July 2009)
